2024 - 2025 : a year of transition in preparation for the coming decades 
"What is the place of a Catholic university in today's France and Europe? This was the question guiding the academic lecture given by UCLy Rector Gregory Woimbée at the university's solemn opening on Thursday, October 10. With the start of a new term of office, in an uncertain national and international context for the academic world, it is now time to build a new strategic direction for our university.

Grégory Woimbée appointed Rector of UCLy
Professor Grégory WOIMBÉE, born in 1976, Doctor of History and Theology, has been appointed the new Rector of UCLy. He will take up his post on July 1, 2024. He succeeds Olivier ARTUS, who has held this position since 2019. 

UCLy inaugurates its Maison de la Recherche et de l'Entreprise (House of Research and Enterprise)
UCLy's "Maison de la Recherche et de l'Entreprise" was inaugurated on April 10, 2024, after several months of construction work. This new facility, located at the heart of the Saint-Paul campus, offers improved working conditions for UCLy researchers in communication with new workspaces designed for partnerships between our university and the business world. A meeting that will bring to life the confluence of disciplines and the interaction between the world of Research and business in Lyon.

The Grenoble agreement: UCLy strengthens its commitment to the socio-ecological transition
On 28 September 2023, UCLy officially joined the Grenoble Agreement. This document lays out a commitment by around a hundred French higher education establishments to work together to drive forward the environmental transition. Inspired by the Paris Agreement and a result of the work of France’s Student COP2, it gives them a list of concrete goals related to the teaching, staff training, student life, working life, research and day-to-day functioning of these establishments.

2023 - 2024: The Year of Inclusion and Innovation
After the year of ‘Sciences & Humanities’ in 2022-2023, the 2023-2024 academic year will see the next stage of our journey through the history of UCLy, as we focus on "Inclusion and Innovation".

Founded in 1875, the Catholic University of Lyon is celebrating its 149th birthday in 2024 ! Open on the world and in tune with social evolutions, UCLy has kept growing, creating new programs and sponsoring research at the intersection between sciences and humanities.

Student housing in Lyon: Discover the new "Maison Saint-Bernard"
This UCLy student residence has been reinaugurated after two years of work and a thorough renovation. "This renovation project was UCLy's real estate priority in Lyon", explains the Rector of UCLy. The Maison Saint-Bernard offers 150 rooms just a few minutes' walk from the Saint-Paul and Carnot campuses. 

The Major Projects of the 2023-2024 Academic Year
Some big projects are nearing completion, while others are only just beginning. In our traditional autumn interview, Professor Olivier Artus, Rector of UCLy, gave us an overview of the projects taking place in the 2023-2024 academic year, the last in his mandate. The theme chosen for this academic year is ‘Inclusion and Innovation’, a common thread running through all these new ideas.
