Presentation

François Lestang is a teacher-researcher in biblical exegesis and a member of the CONFLUENCE : Sciences et Humanités research unit (EA 1598), of which he is director of the doctoral school after having been head of the "Theology, Philosophy and Religious Sciences" research center. 
Born in 1965, a priest of the Institut du Chemin Neuf  François Lestang is full professor of New Testament in the Faculty of Theology at UCLy. After studying mathematics (ENS Fontenay-saint-Cloud & Paris VI-Paris VII), he studied philosophy in Paris (Centre Sèvres-Facultés Jésuites de Paris) and theology in Rome (Pontifical Gregorian University). He specialized in biblical studies at the Pontifical Biblical Institute, where he obtained a canonical licence and then a doctorate in Sacred Scripture.
Since 2005 he has been teaching at the Faculty of Theology, where he offers New Testament courses on the Acts of the Apostles, the Pauline corpus and the Letters of Peter, Jude and James, as well as an introduction and in-depth study in Biblical Hebrew. He has translated Thomas O. Lambdin (Harvard)'s textbook into French. 
Within the faculty, he was head of the Centre Chrétien pour l'Étude du Judaïsme (Christian Center for the Study of Judaism; 2006-2016), vice-dean (2015-2017), director of the post-grad program (2012-2023); he is currently vice-dean (2023- )..
In the Confluence: Sciences et Humanités research unit, he was in charge the center for  "Theology, Philosophy and Religious Sciences" (2020-2023) before taking over as director of the Doctoral school. He served as vice-president (2018-2022) of the French Catholic Association for Bible Study (ACFEB), is presently the regional secretary of the local group, and presides the editorial comittee of the collection "Commentaire Biblique:Nouveau Testament" (Le Cerf), for which he prepares the commentary on Paul's letter to the Colossians.
