Elie Ayroulet is a professor (NO) at Lyon Catholic University and a teacher-researcher in patristics, a member of the CONFLUENCE: Sciences et Humanités research unit. He is responsible for Research group 2, 'Bible, Literatures and Ancient Cultures', and works with Sources Chrétiennes.
He is academic director of the master's degree in patristic sciences and teaches at the faculties of theology and philosophy. He was vice-dean of the Faculty of Theology. For 5 years he taught a course on the "Bible as literature" and another entitled "Biblical echoes in literature" in the Faculty of Modern Literature.
He is a specialist in Maximus the Confessor and for several years has devoted part of his research to Irenaeus of Lyon. He was coordinator and editor of the positio for the doctoral thesis on Irenaeus. He is currently working on an HDR in theology.
