Presentation
Vincent Mangematin is currently Director of ESDES and a member of the CONFLUENCE: Sciences et Humanités research unit (EA1598) at UCLy.
As a professor of Strategy and Innovation Management, he likes pioneering new questions, new concepts and new relationships. His research explores different strategies to create and circulate knowledge within and amongst knowledge based organisations. His research strategy is based on three main programmes:
Business model and hard to value industries
While there is now considerable research on how digital technologies create and capture value, how firms create new customers and how they develop multisided platforms remain poorly understood. Business model approach has the potential to renew strategic management, to describe the formation of new eco-systems which transcend industries and to assist managers in developing news ways to enquire the world and to form anticipations. This research program focuses on emerging convergence between health and wellbeing. It contributes to accompany actors and firms to design better business models.
Organisation of research and innovation in high tech sectors
Based on biotech and nanotechnologies industries, this programme focuses on the firms’ evolution within emerging industries: coupling between financial and scientific resources within high tech companies, knowledge integration within project-based firms along the industry life cycle, spatial organisation of economic, technological and scientific activities in emerging sectors where sharing of research facilities is required.
Technology transfer and management of Public Sector Research Organisations.
Technology transfer strategies may be based on research alliances or on patent and licensing. His research has been focusing on additional modes of technology transfer like firm creation and mobility of human resource from academia to industry. His on-going research analyses the influence of technology transfer commitment on individual career (mid-career around 40-50 years old researchers) and on the role of Principal Investigator in market and organization shaping.
